primary colours

The sun came out this evening. There is a little house with a red roof across the street from my window, I have been looking at it for the last couple of days… just enjoying the geometry of the roof and the overhead wires around it.

There is also a little green house…

With the clear air down here the light here is fantastic in the late evenings. Despite midsummer being a month ago it still does not get dark until after 10pm. I expect the mid-winter sun would be wonderful…

So while we’re on the topic of primary colours…

  • Did your bus go down the route 40 from El Calafate to Puerto Natales or through Chile, because I was wondering what the route through Chile past Torres del Paine was like ( if the bus had gone that way )– was it similar to the road into El Calafate ?

    • ruta 40. it goes to Esperanza before turning southwest towards Rio Turbio and the border – it is a good road all the way. The best way to cycle is to leave ruta 40 I think at Cerrito and ride towards Cerro Castillo. Part of it is ripio but there are limited (very, apparently) supplies and also water at Tapi Aike. Cerrito itself is just a collection of workmans huts, I imagine there is water there however. The road south from Cerro Castillo to Pto Natales is paved, Ennio hitched this section. The road through the park and south to Puerto Natales via the Cueva Milodon is ripio. hope that helps!
