Sixty Degrees of Latitude – a reminder

It’s time I gave my book another plug I think. It has been receiving some lovely feedback from buyers, so thank you if you have a copy… and if you haven’t it is a beautiful book printed on a very heavyweight lustre paper that would make a very nice addition to your book shelf if you enjoy travel.. or photography or cycling… or even if you don’t. One chap with a copy said this about it which I thought was rather nice.. “…I’m glad that the book doesn’t force feed you “a journey” but rather offers you some insight into the allure of travel. Especially by bicycle. And that is getting to know something of the personality of a place you visit. And above all, this is a collection of beautiful photographs.

SIXTY DEGREES OF LATITUDE

A journey by bicycle following the spine of the Andes from a latitude of approximately 5 degrees north in Colombia to 55 degrees south at the tip of Tierra del Fuego. These are some of the places in between.

  • Mike,

Have you thought of developing this into an electronic book for iPads and the like? I think it could be really beautiful.

I could give you some tips on how to do this, if you like. It would open your market up to a lot more people because you could lower the price and you’d have a product that appeals to the crowd who don’t care for books so much anymore. Although I personally love books, I try not to buy them because we are constantly moving and it’s just one more thing to store and worry about.

Just a thought. Let me know if you want me to expand on this any more.

    • ah that is an interesting thought. I had always assumed electronic books are better suited to primarily text-based works, amazon kindle etc, but iPad does raise the possibility. Presumably it would be PDF which is simple enough to output from Indesign.. how to market? Yes, interested to hear! cheers!

      • Drop me an email and I’ll be happy to expand on a few thoughts. You can also email me through the Contact Us link on our site. I don’t see any way to email you directly… so will wait for your message.

        • hey thanks, I’ve been thinking about this.. for a pure photo book the value I think is in having the physical item.. as an eBook it’s little more than a collection of jpegs.. but the Boatbuilders Story book will work as an eBook I think so I’ll do that once the print edition is sorted
