People used to ask me why I write a blog, in many cases the implication being that it’s an ego thing.. it doesn’t happen anymore, not sure why but perhaps blogs these days are accepted as a valid creative pursuit.. or perhaps my enormous, planet-sized ego likes to think the blog speaks for itself.. or not, perhaps it’s just that everyone who ever asked me that has been beaten to a pulp… well, anyway whatever the reasons for writing I can say it’s definitely been a worthwhile thing.. in particular because of the friends I have made through it, not the fleeting associations that are inevitable but rather the long-lasting friendships that have come about purely because of this blog.. and there are a few. Now.. I apologise for the recent scarcity of words and pictures.. it’s all the fault (well, not all..) of one of those friends I made through this blog as a result of my two-wheeled adventures in Northern Argentina.. and that friend is about to become a business partner in a venture we’ve talked about ever since that time in the Andes. It’s something really exciting and something that is entirely complementary to my love of bicycle travel but also to my desire to keep Cornwall as my home and to be able to continue with the creative design and development work I’ve been engaging in. I feel a bit like I’m cheating you by saying “I can’t tell you what it is yet”… but I can’t, we’re not quite ready to start shouting about it although that time is very near… having said that most of you folk know that 2+2 comes in somewhere between 3 and 5 so will probably figure it out anyway. There’s a lot of work to do. :-)
So, this last few days my friend has been here in Cornwall complaining about the cold, haha… He lives most of the year in Thailand.. or Vietnam.. so I’m writing this by the fire.. the fire.. in June! Having said that the weather is rubbish and it is nice to have the fire lit while we work on business plans, cash flow projections and so on. It is always good however to be able to retire to my ‘other office’, below to discuss the details of our plans, despite the absence of wifi or beer in the fridge.
So, a post about nothing in particular really, I just felt almost obligated to get some words down. Normal service, I expect, will be resumed shortly.. which reminds me that ‘test card’ post of a few years ago still gets traffic with some 15,000 individual post views. Bonkers…
Stay tuned as always!
